The Rattle Inn, established in 2011, is a collaboration between longtime Austinite Kevin Williamson (Ranch 616) and Matt Luckie (FBR Management) with influences from Grammy winner, Ray Benson. The two-story bar is multi-faceted housing a large rooftop patio, a whiskey lounge and a live music venue.
The Whiskey Lounge, located on the first floor, has the largest selection of whiskey, bourbon and scotch on West 6th (and with 85 selections, one of Austin’s largest). The lounge offers a relaxed, Texas speakeasy feel where you can enjoy good bourbon, talk and relax in a dark rattlesnake skin booth.
Next door, Ray’s Backstage is West 6th’s only full-scale live music venue. Donnell Robinson, a career Austin musician who earned a spot in Austin’s Music Hall of Fame, directs the music program. Under Robinson, the Ray’s Backstage music program is blossoming offering great shows that are also free to the public most nights. Imagine seeing Sturgill Simpson in an intimate lounge with only 12 other fans before he was a superstar…those moments happen at Ray’s.
Upstairs, the party happens on the airy Rooftop Deck boasting a large covered patio with a photo booth, skeeball machines and basketball machines for extra entertainment. Hungry? Treat yourself to an exclusive happy hour menu from famed taco trailer, The Violet Taco, and kick back with their signature Snake Oil cocktail (Old Overholt Rye, Cointreau, lemon and simple syrup served with a full bottle of Topo Chico and garnished with lemon).
The Rattle Inn offers happy hour Wednesday thru Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with $2 domestics, $3 wells and $4 drafts.
